As a young teenager, Tommy Gamel was always tinkering with his own cars. From engine repair, to banging out self-made dents, to wiring the loudest car stereo system on the road, his interest in the automotive industry started early. At 15, his first job was working in an automotive repair shop where he learned what hard work and dedication was all about. He learned his way around the shop from being a helper, to a body man, to a painter, to a fabricator, and so on. In his early 20’s, he worked at a high end automotive repair shop where he became a master craftsman in the trade. It was then that Tommy branched out and built his first shop.
Since then Gamel Street Rods, Inc., has grown to be a leader in the custom car industry. We have a 12,000 square foot state of the art facility which is located approximately 30-minutes north of Birmingham in Hayden, Alabama.
